I have practiced Iyengar Yoga since 2000 and gained my teaching certificate in 2009. I really enjoy the challenge Iyengar Yoga gives me and I have opted to carry on training and now hold the Intermediate 3 teaching certificate. I am very lucky to have Senior teacher Judith Van Dop living and teaching close by – she is a great mentor and inspiration.
I have visited Pune for a month on three occasions to work directly with the Iyengar family and attended conventions with both Geeta and Abhijata Iyengar. all deeply humbling experiences. I have also attended workshops with visiting senior teachers Glenn Cerescoli and Christian Pissano. There is always so much more to learn, every time I return to my mat I make a new discovery, there are an infinite number of variables within every pose – it is an incredible journey.
Our teacher and Guru was Yogacharya Sri B.K.S Iyengar, sadly lost to us in August 2014. Over the last 70 years he has developed a system of yoga with a strong focus on extension and alignment.
A distinguishing feature of an Iyengar class is the use of props, e.g. blocks, belts and chairs so students with less flexibility or strength are able to work correctly and achieve their full potential.
We have a new Spring 2023 timetable and you can find directions to Loft Studio – King Edward Mine.
I am qualified to teach One to One sessions if you wish to work on a specific group of postures you find challenging in class. These sessions can be offered via Zoom as well as at the studio.
If you would like to know more about Iyengar yoga or my classes please contact me and I’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.
